Weird, Sudden Knee Pain?

i've been having weird, twisting pain in my knees for a week or so. Im not involved in any sports or a lot of walking. i'm average lol. im only a teenager so i dont think it could be arthritis. what could it possibly be? and could it be hereditary? a few of my family members have joint pain. thanks
