Should i still feed my 6 month old son in the middle of the night?

my 6 month old son usually sleeps through the night 8-10 hours straight. sometimes he wakes up and cries and won't go back to sleep. should i still feed him? my mom says no b/c he will get used to waking up for milk. sometimes when i put his pacifier in his mouth and rub his stomach he goes back to sleep, but only sometimes.
