Nerf air restrictor removal drill hole size?

So I am modding my alpha trooper and planning on drilling out the air restrictor. Should I drill a hole that completely removes all the stuff inside the barrel or should I drill a hole slightly smaller than the dart? I figured that the latter would give my dart more velocity in the same way a smaller nozzle on a hose gives the water more velocity. But at the same time there would be resistance similar to what the air restrictor already does. Let me know what you think, or if you have experience with this let me know the results. Thanks!
